Brief History

The League was formed in 1987 from Clubs of the Friendly League, and was called the Solent Premier League and was not affiliated to any associations.

In 1996 the League applied for affiliation to the Hampshire Football Association who asked the Portsmouth Football Association to vet our application. It was suggested by the PFA that the League become the Solent Divisions of the Gosport and Fareham League.

In the 1997/8 season the Solent Premier League became the Solent Divisions of the G & F League. After one season the Solent Divisions decided to once again apply for affiation, as the Solent Football League, to the HFA.

The application was successful and led, in the 1998/9 season, to the League's membership of the PFA.
